Diddy? Still rocking the stage?

Sean Combs, aka P. Diddy, Puff, Puffy, Puffdaddy, or Diddy, born on November 4, 1969 is STILL making music at 41 years old. First having a career in strictly producing artists’ music and images, such as Mary J. Blige, he broke out his first hit in 1997 called “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down”. This hit #1 on the Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart for almost 2 months. Did Diddy have it rockin’ back then? Clearly.

What about now? Though he went from producer, to rapper, all the way to making a hit MTV show “Making the Band”, Diddy may have lost his fire.

Diddy made another comeback, “Coming Home”, which he claims it is “so big and so the best”. Featured in the video are see-through pants, smoke machines, helicopter shots, cameramen wearing “Raiders of the Lost Ark” hats, and apparently it’s “like a movie”. Is it really the best… again?

Making several comebacks in his career, Diddy’s fans grow and then fade rather quickly. This could be due to the fact that he almost refuses to come out with more than one hit single at a time. How can you continue to be successful if there is only one hit every few years?

It’s about time Diddy packed up his rapping and act more as a mentor in order to help other break out artists.

  1. Amen! He is so 1990’s. I can’t even remember a song by him, he’s so irrelevent in my world. Come to think about it, I don’t listen to alot of garbage that is being produced these days. Anyway I liked your article. I’ll hitting up your page from now on.

    • Thanks for your input! I definitely agree with you about music not being the same as it used to be. No one has to have actual talent anymore since there’s a little thing called auto tune. So disappointing.
